Kerrigan's writing is amazing. This new novella is magical and enchanting. Being a holiday story made it even more special.
Like the quote says on the cover this story really is captivating and phenomenal.
Her characters are always so powerful and intriguing. She really writes unforgettable characters that you will always remember . They will forever still with me.
This story had so much passion and emotion. I felt as if I was in the story. Her details are vivid and the love scenes were smoking HOT!
Finn, a brawny handsome beserker on a mission ends up having to take a unexpected side trip that will forever change his life.
Rhona, a beautiful widow who has been through so much. She has nothing and is alone until she hears a knock at her door. She never would of expected who waited on the other side.
Kerrigan's stories are unique and like nothing I have ever come across before.
This story had a great twist to it. I was so glad we got to read more about the characters in her first 2 novellas, it made the story even better.
This story was very well written. A total page turner you wont want to put down. It's a must read! You will NOT be disappointed.

Unwanted is a combination medieval romance with a touch of the supernatural, in the case of the hero who is a Berserker. This is the third book in the Highland Historical series, but I wasn't lost by not reading the first two books. Finn is pretty much a loner who is sent on a mission to assassinate who he believes is his enemy. In the cold winter, he finds a newborn left out in the woods to die. He goes to Rhona, who can barely makes ends meet as a type of midwife who breastfeeds newborn babies of the village she's in. Rhona has had a harsh life. Her husband died and then her baby. She was also gang raped and left for dead. She's close to sell her body for firewood when Finn comes to her with the baby. They connect and Finn wants one night with Rhona. He's willing to pay her for her body and Rhona makes the decision to accept Finn.
Finn has only slept with whores and never had the love of a woman. He also can't kiss a woman because if he does, he may mate with her per his species. Rhona expects Finn to use her body for his own, but he gives her pleasure, great pleasure she has never experienced. The night together becomes more and Finn wants to keep Rhona and protect her. But then the lady of the manor needs her help with her pregnancy and Finn finds out the mission he was sent on means his own death. But Finn is in for a shock because the men he was sent out to kill are connected to him in more ways than one.
Unwanted wasn't that bad of a story. I was really impressed. It was well written and the first love scene between Finn and Rhona is hot, especially when Finn literally gets on his knees and worships Rhona is a special way with his tongue and mouth, if you get my drift. I think this one would have benefited if it was a more full length story because the action is very sudden and the ending too abrupt and a bit stilted. Also the sudden admittance of love made me rolls my eyes, but when it comes to mates and finding THE ONE as Finn experiences, it makes sense in a way.

Book Review- Unwanted by Kerrigan Byrne
Finn is a Berserker and has been sent to kill Roderick and Connor MacLauchlan. On his way to their land, he comes across an abandoned infant. He can’t leave it there so he takes the crying child to his destination.
There he finds Rhona. She is a nurse that can feed the baby. She is alone after losing her husband and her own child. She helps Finn with the infant and invites him to stay the night in her home.
Rhona appeals to his Berserker and Finn finds he has feelings for the woman. Unfortunately his ordered quest is a dangerous one and he realizes he is being sent to his death. He can’t let himself get too attached to Rhona. He needs to keep her and the baby safe.
This is the third book in the series. There is an interesting twist in this story. The order is making decisions that aren’t necessarily good, which puts Finn on his course. I love the secrets that are revealed.
Rhona is a great character. She tries to do the right thing but also survive. I like her strength and her integrity. She has lost a lot in her life and continues doing her best in life. She seems a good match for Finn.
The author revisits the characters from the first two books. You get to see how they fare and what they are doing. I love that. The female characters are strong and very capable of dealing with their Berserker men.
The Berserker angle was new to me. I like new ways to incorporate a paranormal story. This does a great job. This is a great series overall and I like how the author ends it. It’s a well-rounded story that ties a lot together. I give it a 4 out of 5.
